History Department

The History Department aims to make the students aware of the past and its legacies through teaching, research and extension activities in Indian history in the context of world history.  We believe that only a critical understanding of the past will enable the students to understand the present and help them look towards the future.

The mission of the Department of History is based on the belief that an understanding of history is essential not only to a complete education but also to a life of wider awareness, fulfillment and responsible citizenship. We seek to instill in students a passion for learning about the past to enable them gain a better understanding of the contemporary world and make connections to the future.
